County Leitrim hosts several chief craft breweries and distilleries that contribute to the local production of beer and spirits. The Shed Distillery of PJ Rigney in Drumshanbo commenced operations in December 2014 in an old jam factory as the first distillery in Connacht for over 100 years. It produces Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin with oriental botanicals and gunpowder tea alongside Drumshanbo Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey and Sausage Tree Pure Irish Vodka with its chief products centring on these gin whiskey and vodka expressions with a USP in the innovative use of gunpowder tea in gin and the revival of distillation in the province through family-driven authentic methods with guided tours and tastings in a botanical glasshouse.Carrig Brewing Company in Drumshanbo at the site of the old Jam Factory operates as a family-run craft brewery. It produces a range of eight beers on site with its chief products including ales and other styles with a USP in its small-scale production within the historic building shared historically with distilling activities though operations moved to Meath in 2019 for some aspects
