Center Parcs has obtained planning permission for a €100m expansion of its holiday village at Longford Forest in Ireland, adding almost 200 new lodges and various leisure facilities.

An Bord Pleanála rejected an appeal against the expansion plans, finding that they would not negatively impact conservation areas or the environment.

The expansion includes new lodges, a lakeside restaurant and coffee shop, an extension of existing facilities, an expanded sports hall, and upgraded amenities for staff.

Center Parcs plans to reduce carbon emissions by 30pc, energy usage by 5pc, and obtain 50pc of its energy from renewable sources by 2030. The expansion is expected to generate an additional €27m per year for Irish GDP and create 280 permanent jobs.
