The former Dobbins restaurant, once one of the trendiest spots for Dublin’s business set under legendary proprietor John O’Byrne, has been sold for €850,000.

The property, located at 15 Stephen’s Lane, was in need of refurbishment and was purchased at a 43pc discount from its original asking price of €1.5m.

The former Dobbins restaurant at 15 Stephen’s Lane had a mews style layout and could accommodate more than 100 covers. Although it hasn’t traded for many years, it was known for hosting models, up-and-coming politicos, entrepreneurs, and legal professionals in the past.

The buyer of the properties is investment manager Colm Wu, whose previous ventures include the former Stone Leaf gastropub on Lower Leeson Street, which was converted into serviced offices, and Sweeney’s Bar on Dame St, which was transformed into a hotel.
