Cork City Council received a planning application on 21 September 2025 to amalgamate units A–F on the first floor of Merchants Quay Shopping Centre for a Wing’s World Cuisine branch.
The multicultural buffet restaurant will offer Chinese dim sum, Japanese teppanyaki, sushi, kebabs, noodles, pizza, tandoori bar, and a candyfloss bar, with live cooking stations.
A new direct entrance from St Patrick’s Street uses an existing unused door, extending shopping centre toilet facilities. Wing’s current Dublin outlet on Wolfe Tone Street holds a four-star Google rating, with comments on low prices and a two-hour dining limit.
The proposal aligns with ongoing redevelopment of the adjacent former Debenhams site, including plans for Elverys and new retailers opening by Christmas 2025.
