Delta Air Lines is to exercise options for 34 additional Airbus A321neo aircraft as part of its fleet modernisation strategy.

Deliveries from the order began in 2029 expanding the A321neo fleet to 189 aircraft. The type became the largest in Delta history with 92 in service and 97 firm orders before the exercise. Delta retained options for 36 more A321neo after the transaction. The airline announced two widebody orders earlier in 2026 for Boeing 787 Airbus A330-900 and A350-900.

The first A321neo entered service in 2022 with the narrowbody fleet focused on domestic and select international routes.
