Marriott has opened the first W Hotel property in Scotland in Edinburgh’s East End as part of the mixed-use St James Quarter.
W Edinburgh was initially announced in 2016 under Starwood Hotels’ management before the Marriott merger, and it finally opens as a 244-room hotel.
The hotel is located across three buildings and features a rooftop deck with panoramic views, a Japanese-Brazilian-Peruvian fusion restaurant called SUSHISAMBA, a Brazilian-inspired speakeasy named Joao’s Place, W Lounge, fitness center, and spa facilities. The interiors draw inspiration from the city’s volcanic rock and incorporate dark ‘charred wood’ panelling and copper accents.
Overall, W Edinburgh brings a unique, luxury experience to Scotland and complements the brand’s English property, W London. The hotel’s distinctive design, culture-driven programming, and refined ambiance aim to offer locals and global travellers a fresh perspective on exploring the city.
