GOL and TAP Air Portugal are the first airlines to adopt the advanced FuelIS analytics tool aimed at optimising fuel consumption.

Technology and operational efficiency improvements are projected to account for approximately 10pc of emissions reduction by 2050 according to IATA’s net-zero carbon emissions roadmap.

Fuel management plays a critical role in the airline industry, with jet fuel costs comprising 25-30pc of overall expenses.

FuelIS benchmarks airlines’ aircraft fuel efficiency using operational data, contributing to potential annual reductions of 4.76 million tonnes in fuel consumption and around $3.8 billion in savings.

TAP Air Portugal focuses on fuel consumption management as part of its decarbonisation efforts, aided by insights from FuelIS to support its transition to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
