Spanish hoteliers are forecasting continued foreign tourism growth in the first half of 2026, though at a moderated pace, following 2025’s strong performance.
German-origin flights, the only segment that is slowing and lags behind pre-pandemic levels, rose from 23.6m in spring 2025 to 23.9m, as travellers shifted to rivals like Greece and Egypt, gaining 500,000 and 3.8m flights respectively.
The sector prepared for sustained demand, emphasising occupancy and pricing strategies. Regional airports eyed expansions to capture traffic, amid broader European comparisons. Officials urged infrastructure investments to maintain Spain’s edge in the Mediterranean market.
