
The Irish Aviation Authority reported that it obtaining €1.197m in compensation for 1,726 complaints upheld against airlines in 2023.
Aer Lingus accounted for 33pc of these complaints while Ryanair had a share of 31pc.
Security queue times at Dublin Airport exceeded 30 minutes on six occasions, up from the previous year.
The IAA’s 2024 revenue totalled €37.43m, with pre-tax profits amounting to €2.57m.
Total staff costs were reported at €22m, with 91 employees earning over €100,000.
The IAA shared: “Overall, complaints against Aer Lingus are down 6% year on year despite significant disruption in June and July 2024 due to industrial action which resulted in the cancellation of over 500 flights.” The determination of legal costs in respect of a legacy defamation case from 2014 were settled in February 2025 for €407,486 following a Supreme Court decision.”
