Iberia plans to invest €6bn over five years to expand its long-haul fleet from 45 to 70 aircraft.  New routes to Philadelphia, Toronto, and Monterrey will start with three weekly flights, aiming for daily services.

A321XLR aircraft, with eight joining by end of 2025 or early 2026, will focus on American continent routes.  Loyalty programme targets 11m members, up from 6.5m, with rebranded elite status criteria.

Iberia City in La Muñoza, planned for 2027, will include a training centre, catering facilities, and headquarters.

Marco Sansavini shared: “It’s a long-term plan. We are looking at estimations that go beyond the fluctuations that are related to geopolitical elements in the short and medium term. New XLRs will be fully dedicated to the American continent. There will be upgrades to lounges elsewhere too.”
