Around 1,900 commercial meetings are taking place at IMEX 2024 in Frankfurt where Tourism Ireland has been joined by 35 tourism businesses promoting Ireland.

Speakers at the event focused on the positive impact of business events in securing industry funding, enhancing community development, and shaping policy.

Discussions highlighted the importance of achieving long-lasting effects beyond individual events and shared new research findings from various destinations and associations.

Destination Canada’s Legacy and Impact research study showcased how government participation in business events can lead to policy changes and increased public awareness, as seen with the Insects to Feed the World conference in Quebec.

The event also revealed a shift towards purpose-driven business impact, with companies focusing on social consciousness and sustainability. The launch of the Events Industry Council’s Future Landscapes Survey emphasized the need for the industry to work together proactively and lead with a higher purpose to maximize impact.

Sustainability will be a key theme at IMEX Frankfurt 2025 to be held from May 20-22, 2025, with dedicated sessions on eco-friendly practices, a focus on sustainable products, and the continuation of the IMEX-EIC Innovation in Sustainability Award.

Attendees can expect a robust education program covering various MICE industry topics, extensive networking opportunities, thematic zones on technology, sustainability, health, and wellness, as well as special events like the Opening Ceremony, Networking Receptions, and Awards Ceremonies. Participants are advised to plan early for the event to maximise their experience.
