Ireland West Airport has selected six new charity partners for 2026 including Cancer Care West, the Family Centre Castlebar, the Liver Ireland Support Network, the Mayo Mental Health Association, Pancreatic Cancer Ireland and the Sunflower Children’s Hospice.
Events throughout the year will raise funds for these organisations with the Portwest 5K Runway Fun Run scheduled for September on the airport runway and a special 40th anniversary celebration night in May in partnership with Midwest Radio where all ticket proceeds will support the causes.
The existing recycling initiative using the Re-turn scheme will continue with dedicated bins in the terminal directing proceeds to the charities and the airport aims to exceed the record €54,000 raised last year.
Joe Gilmore shared ‘Last year, a record €54,000 was raised for six deserving charities, Connacht SBHI Branch (Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus), Dillon Quirke Foundation, Mayo Roscommon Hospice, Order of Malta (Knock Branch), The National Breast Cancer Research Institute, and Western Alzheimers, demonstrating the powerful impact of collective effort. The airport is proud to support six new charities for the coming year with the aim of surpassing the record amount raised in 2025’.
