Catagen, a net-zero technologies company in Belfast, has submitted a sample of its sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to the EU SAF Clearing House.
The company is developing SAF from wind, water, air (e-SAF), and wind, sustainable organic waste (bio-SAF) for use in existing airplanes, with the potential to significantly reduce carbon emissions in the aviation industry.
Catagen’s ClimaHtech E-FUEL GEN production model aims to produce clean fuels like SAF and e-diesel from renewable hydrogen and sustainable carbon dioxide powered by renewable electricity, presenting both economic and decarbonization opportunities.
The EU SAF Clearing House, launched in July 2024, guides SAF producers in sustainable aviation fuel development, providing evaluation, testing, pre-screening services, and sustainability certification, with Catagen as one of its participants.
