JetBlue has introduced a new feature for passengers to track luggage using Apple’s ‘Share Item Location’ in the Find My app.

Passengers can use an AirTag in their luggage to share location data with JetBlue, enhancing tracking visibility during travel.

The airline’s mobile app now offers real-time luggage tracking in addition to existing email updates.

JetBlue’s share price has dropped by 43pc year-to-date, leaving Vladimir Galkin, the second-largest shareholder in JetBlue Airways, to consider selling his nearly 10pc stake in the airline due to a decline in performance.

Galkin invested over USD 200m in JetBlue between February and August 2024, owning over 34.6m shares at that time.

Galkin shared “I am underwater a little bit and just going to have to hold on to it, I hope that the airline will start making money “sooner rather than later.”

JetBlue’s JetForward plan aims to boost profits and deliver up to USD 900m in earnings before interest and taxes by 2027, amid challenges like soft travel demand and economic uncertainty.

Carol Clements shared “This new in-app bag tracking feature, along with AirTag location sharing for baggage recovery, are designed to bring customers peace of mind. JetBlue’s improvements are part of the JetForward strategy aimed at increasing efficiency while launching new routes and opening lounges.”
