Kelly’s Resort in Rosslare reports revenue up 11.5pc to €19.4m

Over 450 professionals from the hospitality industry were in attendance at the awards which took place at a black-tie awards ceremony in the luxurious Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny and were hosted by TV3's Martin King. Cork. Ireland’s Business Hotel, ls sponsored by Brightspark Academy, was won by the Absolute Hotel in Limerick while in catering, the National Maternity Hospital scooped the award for Ireland’s Healthcare Caterer, sponsored by Noel Healthcare. A new category this year, Ireland’s Executive Chef of the Year was given to Ken Harker of Mount Juliet Estate, Co. Kilkenny, while the award for Ireland’s Rising Star Chef, another new category was awarded to Niamh Barry of the Bay Tree Bistro Co. Waterford. Staying with Chef’s and although an already established and extremely popular category, the highly sought after award for Ireland’s Chef of the Year went to Jess Murphy of Kai Restaurant, Co. Galway. Kelly’s Resort Hotel in Co. Wexford was named the Gold Medal Supreme Winner, the highest accolade of the Awards; they also took home the award for Ireland’s Family Friendly Hotel. The Outstanding Service Award, chosen by the Gold Medal Award’s judging panel recognises and honours an individual’s outstanding contribution to the hospitality industry over a significant period of time and the honour this year was presented to Aidan Moynihan of Hotel Killarney, Co. Kerry. The coveted People’s Choice Award for Ireland’s Favourite Place to Stay, sponsored by the Irish Independent,, as voted for by the public was awarded to Castle Leslie Estate in Co. Monaghan. Kelly’s Resort Hotel and Spa in Rosslare, Co Wexford reported an 11.5pc increase in revenue for 2023, reaching nearly €19.4m, with operating profit rising to €741,000 despite tighter margins due to increased VAT and costs, such as food and wages.

The business employed an average of 286 people a month in 2023, up 19 on the previous year.

The hotel has revealed plans to invest €2m to enhance its facilities, focusing on refurbishing bedrooms and reception areas to maintain standards amid growing demand.

Ongoing investments, including a new restaurant and a cafe, along with sustainability efforts like solar energy implementation, have been key in driving revenue growth for the resort.

Looking ahead, the demand for local holiday experiences remains strong, as many people prefer to avoid airports and enjoy resort stays in Ireland, which positions Kelly’s Resort favourably for continued success.
