KLM Royal Dutch Airlines completed its Dreamliner fleet renewal on 30 January 2026, with the arrival of its 28th and final Boeing 787 aircraft, named “Krokus”.
The completed Dreamliner fleet now consists of 28 aircraft:
- 13 Boeing 787-9s: The first of these, “Zonnebloem,” entered service in 2015.
- 15 Boeing 787-10s: The larger variant, which first joined the fleet in 2019 with “Oranjebloesem”. “Krokus” (registration PH-BKS) is the final -10 model delivered.
The Boeing 787-10 “Krokus” and its counterparts offer a modernised passenger experience:
Capacity: Configured with 318 seats, including 38 in World Business Class, 28 in Premium Comfort, and 252 in Economy.
As of last winter, all 28 Dreamliners are equipped with this dedicated cabin, offering extra legroom and a specialized catering concept.
The fleet is part of a broader strategy to operate more fuel-efficient aircraft, with the 787 providing approximately 25pc lower fuel consumption than the models it replaced.
This milestone marks the end of a decade-long transition for KLM’s widebody operations. While the Dreamliner fleet is now complete, KLM is moving into a new phase of fleet renewal, which includes the upcoming arrival of Airbus A350-900 aircraft later in 2026 to replace older Airbus A330 and Boeing 777-200ER models.
