Meath’s Old Mill Hotel in Julianstown to be restored after lying derelict since 2008

Plans to restore the Old Mill Hotel in Julianstown, Meath, have been submitted to Meath County Council for approval of 62 residential units.

The proposal aims to conserve and reuse two protected structures, with the Mill House becoming a medical centre and the Old Mill transforming into a café and community room. Non-original elements, including a garage and internal walls, will be removed while preserving remaining historic features in accordance with heritage guidelines.

A public riverside walkway along the River Nanny, with seating areas and landscaping, will be part of the development to enhance the local environment. Some residents have raised concerns about the derelict site since it has been vacant since 2008, and action for regeneration is seen as crucial to Julianstown’s identity.
