The change marks a new era for Limerick city centre hospitality.
The portfolio includes the five star Savoy Hotel the boutique George Hotel and Hamptons Bar and Grill. Moran Hospitality is a family-run group known for owning the Red Cow Moran Hotel in Dublin. The acquisition includes a portfolio of luxury hospitality venues in Limerick city centre:
- The Savoy Hotel: A 5-star flagship hotel known for its luxury accommodation.
- The George Hotel: A 4-star boutique hotel located in the heart of the city.
- Hamptons Bar & Grill: A popular New York-style restaurant associated with the collection.
Although Dublin-based, the Moran family has deep roots in Limerick, including previous business ventures and sponsorship of Limerick GAA.
Moran Hospitality has expressed its intention to work closely with the existing teams to maintain the standards set by the Branigan family over the last two decades. The Savoy Collection employs hundreds of staff across its venues, all of whom have been assured of a smooth transition under the new ownership.
The move is seen as a significant “passing of the torch” between two prominent Irish hospitality families, ensuring that one of Limerick’s most iconic hotel portfolios remains under domestic, family-owned management.
Moran Hospitality shared in a written statement “We are delighted to acquire The Savoy Collection a portfolio that holds a special place in Limerick’s hospitality landscape.”
