Munich Airport plans to have its new Terminal 1 Pier operational in the first half of next year. The expansion project, costing €665m, is on schedule with testing commencing “in the coming months”.

The new pier is designed to accommodate non-Schengen carriers including American Airlines, British Airways, Delta, Emirates, Turkish Airlines and Qatar Airways.

It will handle up to six million passengers annually, managing either twelve smaller aircraft or six widebody aircraft at once.

Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich Airport, shared: “It is impressive to see how the Terminal 1 concourse is gradually taking shape. You can now easily imagine how passengers will arrive and depart here in less than a year’s time. We are not only creating additional capacity, but also a new level of quality and comfort for our passengers.”
