Krewe South, a sister restaurant to the popular Krewe on Capel Street, is opening in Dublin 2 this week, bringing what it calls the vibrant atmosphere and delicious Creole cuisine of New Orleans to the bustling Charlemont Square area.
The menu at Krewe South, created in collaboration with Head Chef Niall Smyth, draws inspiration from Cajun and creole flavours but also incorporates locally sourced Irish ingredients. From jambalaya to po’boys, each dish aims to evoke the authentic taste of New Orleans.
The owners have invested in a separate pastry kitchen and three pastry chefs to replicate New Orleans specialty desserts like Beignets and Pecan Pie, while also perfecting Irish favorites like Chocolate Fudge Brownie.
In addition to the food, Krewe South will also feature street art inspired by New Orleans culture. Irish street artist Zurdie has created a graffiti wall outside the venue, while Irish artist sumsone has completed two large-scale pieces inside. Plans for an art wall showcasing Irish artists will soon be underway.
