A proposed seven storey hotel in Lower Baggot Street in Dublin has met objections from the Irish Georgian Society, citing concerns about its disproportionate size and its impact on the character of the area.

The planning consultant for the applicants argues that the proposed development is appropriate and will have no adverse visual impact on the surroundings.

Objectors include the board of management of Catherine McAuley National School of objects to a planned seven-storey hotel near the school, citing significant risk to children with special educational needs and learning disabilities who attend the school.

The objection states that having a hotel overlooking the school is not appropriate, as it raises concerns about security and the lack of ability to vet the transient population staying in the hotel.

Esprit Investments Ltd, the company behind the hotel project, also plans to construct 16 residential units, an arts/cultural space, and a multi-use school space.
