Planning permission has been approved for an eco-friendly tourism development on Lough Ree in County Roscommon featuring 36 timber cabins, including 12 family cabins and 24 two-person cabins.
The project at Yew Point, behind the Hodson Bay Hotel at Barrymore, Kiltoom, is focused on sustainability, utilising renewable energy sources and minimal environmental impact.
Conservation and protection of existing woodland areas and the natural environment are key objectives of the development.
The construction will involve raising the cabins on stilts to preserve ground conditions and wildlife movement routes.
