Investigations are continuing into how a Delta Connection CRJ-900 (N932XJ) overturned during landing at Toronto, carrying 80 passengers and resulting in at least 18 injuries

Amid strong winds and snow, the Bombardier aircraft flipped upside down on the tarmac before passengers were evacuated. The suggestions are that the aircraft was not flared correctly before touchdown, with possible ice build up.

Delta Air Lines, the aircraft operator, said that two people are in a critical, but not life-threatening, condition.

Toronto Pearson’s two runways were closed while the accident was investigated. EI 286 Toronto to Dublin was delayed by four hours.

Deborah Ale Flint CEO of Toronto Pearson Airport shared: “we are very grateful there is no loss of life an d relatively minor injuries.”

A social media campaign attempted to blame the accident on diversity hitring, claiming that the pilot was a brand new female first officer who had just finished training. Delta have released no details of the pilot and the disinformation campaign was widely condemned.
