REVEALED: Dublin city’s clamping blackspots

Ranelagh in Dublin city has the highest number of vehicles clamped for illegal parking, with nearly 900 clamped on its main street last year.

Overall, the total number of vehicles clamped in Dublin city increased by 8% to 44,128 in 2023 compared to the previous year. The greatest number of vehicles clamped in a single day last year was 200 on Thursday, August 17th.

Revenue from motorists paying to have their vehicles released increased by 16% to €4,839,500 in 2023.

Dublin City Council received €851,473 from fines issued by parking wardens last year, a 96% increase from the previous year.

Clamping and parking fines were reintroduced in Dublin in July 2021 to address illegal parking offenses.

Other areas with increased clamping rates include Merrion Square, North Circular Road, and Fitzwilliam Square.
