Ryanair plans to double traffic at Warsaw Modlin Airport during the Summer 2026 season by basing seven aircraft, operating 49 routes including seven new ones to destinations such as Alghero, Bratislava, Lamezia, Milan, Palermo, Sofia, and Valencia, and targeting three million passengers annually. This represents a substantial investment of $700m in the base at Modlin, Ryanair’s main Warsaw airport.

At Warsaw Chopin Airport, the carrier outlined more modest but still positive developments with three new routes to Leeds, Porto, and Seville, supporting around 700,000 passengers per year. Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary told a press conference in Warsaw the overall benefits for Polish travellers included increased choice, competition, and the lowest fares in Europe. He also addressed broader industry issues amid regional geopolitical tensions, noting a surge in bookings for European short-haul destinations as travellers shift away from Middle Eastern routes.

Michael O’Leary shared “As Poland’s No.1 airline, Ryanair is pleased to announce record growth in Warsaw for S2026, led by 7 new routes at Warsaw Modlin,  our main Warsaw airport,  and 3 new routes at Chopin. For S2026, Ryanair will base 7 aircraft at Modlin (a $700m investment) and operate 49 routes, which will see our Modlin traffic double to 3m passengers p.a.”

In response to questions on potential support for repatriation flights amid ongoing Middle East airspace issues, Michael O’Leary shared “We don’t have that many spare aircraft, but where we can help we will.”
