The Shamrock Lodge Hotel in Athlone is planning a substantial expansion, including a new entrance, enlarged bar and function room plus five additional bedrooms.
An existing two-storey building requires demolition to enable the works, with the application submitted to Westmeath County Council and a decision scheduled for 17 November.
The upgraded function room will accommodate up to 350 guests at round tables for weddings and events, alongside increased capacity for concerts. Athlone’s central position draws visitors to the region.
