Trade union SIPTU has warned of potential industrial action by baggage handlers and check-in staff at Dublin Airport if Sky Handling Partner does not cooperate with the union at the Workplace Relations Commission.
The union is seeking a collective agreement for higher pay and improved terms and conditions for workers at Sky Handling Partner, a subsidiary of Group CRIT that handles logistics for Air Baltic, Air Canada, Air France, Air Transat, Delta, Etihad, KLM, Qatar, SAS, Tap and West Jet at the airport.
Jerome Brennan, Siptu’s industrial organizer in the aviation sector, said that workers at Sky Handling Partner are paid less and lack benefits compared to their counterparts at other ground handling companies in Dublin Airport.
Concerns raised by the union in a recent survey include low pay, lack of respect, stress, poor work/life balance, and issues with employment contracts. Staff at Sky Handling Partner are reportedly seeking equal conditions to other workers at the airport.
