Spirit Airlines has recalled nearly 500 pilots furloughed during its current and past Chapter 11 bankruptcy procedures.
The airline sent notices on 9 March 2026 and returning pilots resume duty according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement timeframe.
Parent company Spirit Aviation Holdings is preparing to emerge from Chapter 11 after reaching a restructuring deal with lenders. The airlines says higher than forecasted pilot attrition has madestaffing alignment with the reduced schedule more challenging.
The recalls is an indication of the foundation of the airline’s post-bankruptcy future although they miss the spring break-Easter period.
