Thai Airways International is poised for substantial fleet expansion in 2026 as the carrier targets the addition of 28 new aircraft to support ambitious network growth and revenue ambitions. The Bangkok based airline plans to grow its operating fleet from around 80 aircraft at the end of 2025 to approximately 100 by the close of 2026 through a combination of leases and deliveries spanning narrow body and wide body types. This increase will enable enhanced frequencies on existing routes and the launch of new services particularly focusing on high potential markets in Asia such as India and China.

The additions include leases for ten Boeing 787 8 widebodies with deliveries commencing around June 2026 to bolster long haul capabilities and replace older aircraft while four Boeing 787 9s are also slated for arrival this year. On the narrow body side Thai Airways continues to integrate Airbus A321neo aircraft with progressive deliveries contributing to regional and medium haul expansion. Chief executive officer Chai Eamsiri has outlined expectations for more than five per cent capacity growth and roughly sevenpc rise in passenger numbers equating to over one million additional travellers annually.

While engine supply constraints and delivery timelines pose potential challenges the airline remains committed to modernising its operations for improved efficiency and competitiveness
