Travelmarvel celebrates Irish heritage during Saint Patrick’s Day week

Rivercrusie company Travelmarvel is promoting the firms’s Irish heritage through the McGeary family during Saint Patricks; week.

The McGeary family are from Australia but originally from county Tyrone. The onboard Irish bar on Travelmarvel ships is named McGeary‘s” in honor of this heritage.

Founded by Bill McGeary in 1927 as “De Luxe Motors” in Melbourne, the company has evolved over decades under family leadership.

Travelmarvel has David Cox, CEO of APT Travel Group (parent company of Travelmarvel), has demonstrated a strong commitment to the Irish market, highlighting new European river ships—Vega, Polaris, and Capella—that feature an onboard Irish pub.

Under his leadership, the company has focused on luxury group travel and developing contemporary river cruise experiences. Cox was appointed CEO during the pandemic and has focused on upgrading the company’s luxury offerings. He oversaw the development of three new contemporary sister ships (Vega, Polaris, Capella) and has participated in their maiden voyages.

Travelmarvel offers premium river cruises, intimate yacht cruises, and escorted tours worldwide. It provides a more relaxed, “casual” travel experience compared to other brands, with a high level of inclusions (transfers, tipping, most meals).
