Ulster Aviation Society open days at Long Kesh Lisburn on will take place on September 14th and 15th from 10:00 to 17:00

There will be fFree access to Second World War hangars and heritage collection including 54+ aircraft and vehicles

Aircraft on display outside the hangars, include RAF Jaguar fast jet and Troubles-era Army helicopters.

It ends a controversy relating to a proposed peace centre on the site of the nearby internment camp and prison used during the 1968-95 troubles. Sinn Féin said the DUP reneged on an agreement to develop the centre.

Mr Burrows said “We attracted 5,000 visitors in our 2013 open day and thought by extending it over two days we could increase that to 7,000. Then there was the decision that nothing would take place at the Maze/Long Kesh.”

Interactive experiences include the Flight Simulator suite, VR headsets, and guided tours by volunteer Tour Guides. See www.ulsteraviationsociety.org
