United Airlines is launching the Airbus A321neo Coastliner on transcontinental routes with lie-flat Polaris suites and Premium Plus seats. The purpose-built aircraft is featuring 20 Polaris suites, 12 Premium Plus seats and 129 economy seats in a reduced capacity configuration of 161 passengers. The Coastliner is bringing widebody-style experience to domestic flights between New York/Newark and San Francisco or Los Angeles.
United is also unveiling interiors for the Airbus A321XLR that extends premium-heavy configurations to international markets with 32 premium seats. The aircraft are part of a fleet expansion that includes more than 250 deliveries by April 2028 and addresses demand on lucrative transcon routes. Polaris passengers are gaining access to United’s Polaris lounges while economy features a self-service snack bar.
Andrew Nocella is confirming the new planes give customers more premium amenity and seat choices. The Coastliner is operating with CFM LEAP engines and a dedicated livery.
