Virgin Atlantic has ordered seven A330-900 aircraft from Airbus during the ongoing 2024 Farnborough Air Show as part of its fleet renewal process.

The airline’s total A330-900 commitment will increase to 19 aircraft, with five currently in operation and plans to acquire three more by the end of 2024 and four by the end of 2026.

The newly ordered A330-900s will be delivered between 2027 and 2028, allowing Virgin Atlantic to retire its last nine A330-300 aircraft, starting from September 2024.

Virgin Atlantic also signed a long-term lease extension for seven B787-9s with AerCap and plans to reduce its B787-9 fleet to 14 units by the first quarter of 2028, alongside operating twelve A350-1000s with no current plans to increase the A350 fleet beyond the current size.
