Plans for a search-and-rescue base at Dublin Weston Airport operator has attracted objections from stud farm and nearby residents over plans for a search-and-rescue base

Weston Aviation Academy Ltd has submitted plans for the SAR base, to be used by Bristow Ireland Ltd.

The proposed SAR base at Weston Airport to be one of four new bases, operational from July 1 next year

Objectors cite potential impact on animals at stud farm, residential communities, and climate change strategy; consultants for the applicants state no adverse impact expected on nearby stud farm.

Stud farm operator Tony Doyle told South Dublin County Council planners that the prospect of night-time fights at Weston Airport “will have a drastic consequence for us, our animals and the people looking after them”.

The Laraghcon Residents Association, on behalf of 340 homes, has asked the council to refuse planning permission as the proposal “is contrary to our climate change strategy”.

A planning report by KPMG Future Analytics, said the development “will further enhance the commercial viability and effectiveness of the airport with a specialised services offering that will not result in any intensification or material change to the existing airport”.
