Sean Duffy has expressed support for reverting to the 1979 Civil Aircraft Agreement for zero-tariff trade.

Mr Duffy noted the US benefits as a net aerospace exporter while managing complex tariff issues.

President Donald Trump’s 10pc tariffs on airplane and parts imports strain an industry facing supply chain issues and recent Air India crash fallout.

The US Commerce Department initiated a Section 232 national security probe in May 2025 into commercial aircraft and parts imports.

Airlines, manufacturers, and trading partners advocate for reinstating the 1979 tariff-free aviation agreement.

Sean Duffy shared:  “The White House is aware that the US is a net exporter in aerospace, but it is also dealing with a complex tariff situational duffy.”
