
Participants in the Just Transition Tourism fund have collaborated in a ‘Collaboration Cruise’ for networking among tourism operators on Lough Ree and the River Shannon.
Over 110 participants from a range of sustainable tourism operators engaged in peer learning to create dynamic tourism packages.
The event provided insights from accommodation providers and network operators about effective collaboration and marketing strategies.
Future events will include workshops, interactive seminars, and an exclusive cruise for those completing the programme by May 2026.
Leaders from Longford County Council acknowledged the importance of innovation and networking for tourism growth in the region.
Longford County Council Cathaoirleach Mark Casey shared: “This was one of the most rewarding and dynamic events we have been able to produce during this EU Transition Programme.” – Michael Nevin, Director of Services, Longford County Council. This successful collaboration demonstrates how the Just Transition programme supports tourism providers by enabling them to innovate, expand their offerings and drive growth in the region.”
Longford County Council Paddy Mahon shared: “Peer engagement, networking and continuous learning are crucial for tourism businesses- echoing the goals of Just Transition programmes in supporting community capacity building, collaboration and sustainable growth.”
