Aena secures approval for its airport for controversial 3.8pc per year fee increase

Aena has secured approval for its airport regulation document covering 2027 to 2031, introducing an average annual fee increase of 3.8pc per passenger.

The plan supports nearly €13,000m in airport expansions and improvements. Airlines, including Ryanair, strongly oppose the rises, arguing they overestimate costs and underestimate traffic recovery, potentially harming tourism, businesses, and hotels.

The Asociación de Líneas Aéreas has called for intervention from authorities to reconsider the proposals.
