County Wicklow’s craft breweries and distilleries maintain operations across mountainous terrain and coastal stretches with production tied to local water from the Wicklow Mountains and barley from surrounding fields. Wicklow Brewery began in 2014 in Redcross at Mickey Finn’s Gastro Pub.
This microbrewery produces premium craft beers in small batches using state-of-the-art German equipment and local produce to create styles such as Helles, St Kevin’s Red, Weis, Black 16 Stout, Hopknut, and Gingerknut with emphasis on balanced traditional profiles available through its beer hall and pub setting.
Wicklow Wolf Brewing Company functions in Wicklow with a taproom facility. This independent brewery crafts exceptional beers through passion-driven methods without compromise in its core range and limited releases suited to independent tastes. O Brother Brewing operates in Greystones with a taproom in Kilcoole. This award-winning craft brewery produces beers through onsite processes and offers tours, tastings, and a beer garden to showcase its range in the local area.
On the distillery side, Glendalough Distillery commenced in 2011 in the Wicklow Mountains. Founded by five friends from Wicklow and Dublin to revive craft distilling heritage, it progressively crafts luxury spirits such as single malt whiskey, gin, and poitín with methods that evoke a sense of place through mountain-sourced water and progressive techniques. Powerscourt Distillery started production in 2018 on the grounds of Powerscourt Estate in Enniskerry.
This facility creates whiskey through grain-to-glass immersion with copper pot stills and master distiller oversight while tours demonstrate the full process in its estate setting surrounded by the River Dargle. These operations form part of Wicklow’s drinks production through their application of craft methods and connections to the county’s natural resources.
