CDB Aviation has delivered three Boeing 737-8 aircraft to Canadian carrier WestJet, with the handover supporting the airline’s narrowbody fleet expansion. The latest-generation aircraft provide enhanced fuel efficiency and flexible travel options, including satellite-supported WiFi, as WestJet advances its growth while maintaining cost-effective operations. CDB Aviation, an Irish subsidiary of China Development Bank Financial Leasing, draws from its orderbook for these deliveries.
The transaction builds on a partnership that began in 2020, with CDB Aviation having financed and leased a total of 13 Boeing 737-8 aircraft to WestJet to date. The new additions contribute to WestJet’s strategy as Canada’s coast-to-coast leisure and western hub carrier. The aircraft align with demands for modern, environmentally friendlier fleet options.
CDB Aviation’s Head of Commercial, the Americas, Luís da Silva, shared “We’ve built a strong partnership with the WestJet team since the inaugural transaction between our companies in 2020. To date, we have financed and leased a total of 13 737-8 aircraft, which support this strong and growing Canadian airline. CDB Aviation values our expanding relationship with WestJet, and we are pleased to be able to support their fleet expansion in an environmentally friendly manner, as we deliver these three additional fuel-efficient 737-8 aircraft directly from our orderbook.”
WestJet’s Senior Vice President, Treasurer, Jennifer Bue, shared “CDB Aviation is a valued partner of WestJet. The relationship enables WestJet to continue our momentum, driving our growth strategy.”
