
The European network Circostrada is visiting Waterford for professional meet-up ‘DIVE#3’ and to host International Contemporary Circus and Outdoor Arts Gathering until Tuesday.
Over 90 international arts delegates registered for the event, themed around the word ‘Common’, hosted by the Irish Street Arts, Circus and Spectacle Network and supported by Culture Ireland.
Highlights will include keynotes, panels, artistic pitches, and showcases, with a focus on the role of outdoor arts in shaping society, a Mayoral reception with Cllr Jason Murphy at Assembly House, supported by the Southern Regional Assembly; a visit to Hook Lighthouse where a showcase of a beautiful new dance work led by Wexford artists Hannah Scully and Beth McNinch called ‘An Triúir Deirfiúir’ will be presented on Friday morning, and a keynote speech by Christine Bouvier of Plexus Rouge based in Marseille, who will be addressing the audience on the subject of ‘Street Arts as an Agent of Change’ drawing examples across time of how arts in public space can provide a catalyst for social change.
Lucy Medlycott Founder Member & Director of the Irish Street Arts, Circus and Spectacle Network (ISACS) said “DIVE is a four-day international exploration on the role of outdoor arts in shaping our society. This once-off event looks at the distinct role that making work in public space has on shaping shared understanding and bringing multiple cultures together for change. Together we will explore the landscape and history of the Irish territory examining key radical artistic actions led by activism & passion, which have transformed and shaped the world we live in.”
