Fingal County Council rejected plans by Conor McGregor’s G Boppers Ltd for a boutique hotel in Howth due to local opposition.
The proposal included demolishing a building to construct a terraced hotel with a pub, restaurant, and boutique bedrooms, but the Council found it would interfere with the landscape and contravene the Fingal Development Plan.
McGregor’s firm provided interest-free funding and acquired land for the project, but the Council received 19 objections, citing concerns about noise, privacy, and the scale of the development.
Local residents and the St Lawrence Quay Management voiced objections, with one resident highlighting the potential noise impact of a large outdoor terrace and the loss of privacy from overlooking properties, claiming it would become an “Ibiza-style party venue.”
