Craggaunowen in County Clare will host the ‘Viking Invasion of Craggaunowen’ on May 4th and 5th, transforming into a Viking village with battle recreations, shield drills, and various historically accurate workshops.

Daily battle reenactments on the Castle Green will showcase Viking warriors’ fierce skills at 11.00am, 12.30pm, 2.00pm, and 3.30pm, while children can engage in shield drills to learn about the infamous Viking Shield Wall formation.

Crafters in workshop tents will demonstrate trading, silversmithing, leatherworking, pottery, armoury, and more, alongside cooking demonstrations using authentic ingredients. Visitors can also view a replica Viking vessel, the Brendan Boat, which sailed from Scandinavia to North America.

Activities including a Viking Moneyer demonstrating coin-making, Viking-themed games like Knubb and Hnefatafl, and educational insights into Viking life will make the ‘Viking Invasion of Craggaunowen’ an educational and entertaining experience for all family members, providing a hands-on look at Viking history and traditions.
