The first events have been taking place in Chicago for IPW 2025, organised by the U.S. Travel Association, and set to take place from June 14–18, 2025, at McCormick Place Convention Centre.
The event comes at a key time for tourism to America, the world’s third largest tourism market. Proceedings will address the challenges to US inbound tourism caused by a change in incumbency in the White House and more rigorous immigration checks. Bookings from key markets such as Canada, japan and France have fallen although other markets, like Ireland, England and Germany have been less affected.
This premier international inbound travel trade show is expected to attract over 5,000 participants, up 20pc from Los Angeles in 2024, including travel buyers, media, tour operators, and exhibitors from more than 70 countries: 1,300 international and domestic buyers from over 70 countries, 1,000 U.S. travel organizations representing all industry sectors, 500 journalists from national and international media outlets, government officials, commercial service executives, and international airline representatives.
IPW 2025 is projected to generate $5.5–$5.7bn in future U.S. travel, attracting over 11 million international visitors in the coming years. Chicago is expected to see up to 400,000 additional international visitors, contributing $600m to the local economy over three years.
Tony lane of Visit USA and Aoife Gregg of United Airlines will lead the Irish delegation. This is the fourth time Chicago has hosted the event, after 1971, 1998 and 2024.
