The 75,000 festival-goers at this weekend’s Electric Picnic have been asked by festival director Melvin Benn to use public transport or car-share to reduce the event’s carbon footprint. Bus services operate from across the country and shuttle services are available from Portlaoise train station.

The 20th-anniversary celebration in Stradbally, Co Laois will feature headliners such as Noah Kahan, Calvin Harris, and Kylie Minogue. All the tickets to this year’s festival have sold out.

Parking is free at the festival, with car parks open for early entry ticket holders from Thursday and general ticket holders from Friday until Monday, and attendees are advised to follow Garda directions and park in designated areas to avoid tow-away vehicles.

Festival checklist items: tickets and ID, clothing for all weather, camping equipment, reusable bottles, power banks. Note that megaphones and single-use disposable vapes are prohibited and all vendors are operating on a cashless basis. Current weather forecasts predict a relatively dry weekend for the event.
