Fifty economy seats are being removed to make way of the new premium economy cabin on board Emirates when it retrofits 43 Airbus A380s and 28 Boeing 777 aircraft.

Features to be installed include refreshed first class, new business class seats, and premium economy. The first retrofitted A380 entered service in January 2023, with 22 A380s already refurbished.

The first 777 will undergo retrofit in July 2023, with a refreshed first class cabin, new business class seats in a 1-2-1 layout, and the addition of 24 premium economy seats.

The project will see a total of 191 aircraft retrofitted, with 8,104 premium economy seats, 1,894 first class suites, and 11,182 business and 21,814 economy seats installed. Customers can opt for the premium economy seat on select routes, with the Emirates A350 aircraft also featuring premium economy from September this year.
