Kerry County Council has agreed to transfer the long derelict three hectare former Pretty Polly factory site in Killarney to the Kerry Education and Training Board for development of a third level catering college.
The project, first announced four years ago, will create a one stop hub for skills development focused on the tourism and hospitality sector in south Kerry. The site, valued at €2.37m, has lain idle for over twenty years.
Kerry ETB is now progressing due diligence and the preliminary business case ahead of seeking ministerial approval. Local councillors welcomed the move as a step towards transforming a derelict area into an education hub that will support economic growth and address skills gaps in the county’s key tourism industry.
