The Galway International Arts Festival has opened its 49th edition that runs from 13 July to 26 July 2026 in Galway City.
The programme includes world-premiere theatre, music, circus and street spectacles. Headline music performances feature Patti Smith Quartet, The Flaming Lips and Sophie Ellis-Bextor with the Saw Doctors. Theatre productions include The Shaughraun by Druid and the new opera Testament.
The Heineken Big Top hosts major concerts while Carnation circus performs at Nimmo’s Pier. Street events include The Whale Street spectacle and Sean Henry sculptures across the city.

The Galway International Arts Festival (GIAF) transforms Galway City into a vibrant hub of multidisciplinary creativity. Running from 13–26 July 2026, the 49th edition features an extensive line-up of world-premiere theatre, international music, boundary-pushing circus, and immersive street spectacles.
