The Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin will be open late on Thursdays in August with ‘After Hours’ events, featuring art workshops, live music, food, drinks, and exhibition tours

Current exhibitions include More power to you, Sacred Trust, Time & Time Again, High Expectations, Francis Bacon’s Studio, Harry Clarke in the Stained Glass Room, and a dedicated Sean Scully Room

Special events on Thursdays include Sip & Paint, life drawing classes, art tours, live music, DJ sets, an art quiz, and a mindful meander & sound bath

Tickets for the events range from €20 to €25 and can be booked via Eventbrite, offering a unique opportunity to experience the Hugh Lane Gallery after hours with friends for a cultural and creative night.

8th August 

  • Sip & Paint: Sarah Purser Edition (From 18.30): Unleash your creativity and find your flow with a guided painting session inspired by Sarah Purser’s works. All materials provided; includes two drinks (alcohol or non-alcohol). 18+ only. Tickets €25 via Eventbrite.
  • Expert Art Tour (From 18:30): Explore the acclaimed exhibition MORE POWER TO YOU: Sarah Purser – A Force for Irish Art with a guided tour. Free – Tickets via Eventbrite or meet at reception, subject to availability. 
  • DJ Steve Reddy (From 18:00 – 20:30): Chill out to laid-back tunes in the front hall.

15th August:

  • Contemporary Female Expression: A life drawing class with Geraldine Carton (From 18.45) An evening of reclaiming the portrayal of women in art; free from the male gaze and societal expectations of how women “should” look. Open to all women and non-binary folk, this is a life-drawing class with a rebellious twist, encouraging us to embrace our creativity and imperfections, and appreciate womanhood in all its unruly glory. All materials provided and no experience necessary. Price includes 1 drink. 18+ Only. Tickets €20 via Eventbrite.

22nd August:

  • Art Quiz (18:00 – 19:30): Test your art knowledge in a fun quiz night. Includes a complimentary drink. 18+ only; team tickets available. Tickets via Eventbrite or show up on the day. Subject to availability.
  • The Tiny Quartet (18:00 – 20:30): Enjoy contemporary classics on violin, guitar, and double bass in our front hall. No booking necessary.

29th August:

  • Mindful Meander & Sound Bath (18:00 – 19:45): A unique session combining mindfulness, slow looking, and sound meditation. 18+ only. Please bring a yoga mat with you for the meditation. Tickets €25 available on Eventbrite. 
  • Molly O’Mahony (18:45 – 20:00): An intimate acoustic session with the acclaimed singer-songwriter in our café. Tickets €10 available via Eventbrite.
