Ireland visits to Australia up 11.4pc in September – now 19th most important market

Ireland visits to Australia were 7,140 in September, up 11.4pc on September 2024 and 67.6pc on pre-pandemic.

Rolling annual was 95,900, up 13pc. Overall visits to Australia were 696,500 for the month. This makes Ireland the 19th most important inbound market to Australia and the fourth most important from Europe.

Australia recorded 696,500 short-term overseas visitors overall in September 2025, which exceeded the September 2019 pre-COVID figure.

Visitor trips increased by 65,800 or 10.4pc compared with September 2024.

New Zealand accounted for 19.5pc of all arrivals as the largest source country. Bali drew 13pc of outbound trips as Australians’ favourite destination. Short-term resident returns reached 1,050,090, up 2.9pc from the previous year.

Australian Bureau of Statistics shared “A total of 696,500 trips were recorded, an increase of 65,800 (10.4pc) compared with the corresponding month of the previous year.”
