Revolut has shared the spotlight in the Irish travel industry, jointly winning the Payment Solutions Provider of the Year award at the 2026 Irish Travel Industry Awards alongside AIB Merchant Services.
The new award was presented at the gala ceremony in Dublin’s Mansion House and organised by the Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) in association with MSC Cruises, recognised both providers for their innovative, secure, and efficient solutions that support travel agents and operators in an increasingly digital booking landscape. Revolut’s inclusion among finalists—Elavon, Ecomm, and Trust Payments—and ultimate joint triumph marks its growing influence in the sector, where fintech agility meets the specific demands of holiday payments.
As a global financial super app with millions of users—including a substantial Irish base—Revolut offers tailored payment tools through Revolut Business and Revolut Pay. In the Irish market, the company focuses on empowering travel agencies, tour operators, and online platforms with fast, low-cost, and secure transaction capabilities. Revolut Pay enables one-click checkouts, allowing customers to pay seamlessly via the Revolut app using biometric security or passcodes, reducing cart abandonment and enhancing conversion rates for agents accepting bookings.
Key activities centre on strategic partnerships that embed Revolut deeply into Irish travel workflows. Notable collaborations include Aer Lingus, Ireland’s flag carrier, which adopted Revolut Pay to offer frictionless payments for flights—customers simply select the option at checkout, approve via their app, and complete the transaction instantly. This partnership, one of Revolut’s first major forays into aviation, has streamlined purchases for Irish travellers and agents handling flight-inclusive packages. Similarly, global platform Booking.com integrated Revolut Pay, enabling secure, one-tap payments for accommodations, with flights and car hire to follow—benefiting the many Irish users who book through the site.
For travel agencies, Revolut Business provides multi-currency accounts holding and exchanging over 25 currencies with competitive rates and no hidden fees on many transactions. Agents can accept customer payments in preferred currencies, pay international suppliers (hotels, airlines, ground handlers) instantly without excessive conversion costs, and issue virtual disposable cards for secure, controlled spending on bookings or marketing expenses. These features prove invaluable for managing cash flow in a sector prone to fluctuating exchange rates and high-value international transfers.
Revolut engages the Irish travel trade through targeted support, including dedicated business account managers, integration guidance for websites and booking systems, and resources on fraud prevention and compliance. The company’s emphasis on security—tokenisation, real-time monitoring, and chargeback protection—addresses common pain points for agents processing deposits, instalments, and full balances. Competitive transaction fees and quick settlements help smaller independent agencies compete with larger operators, while tools for recurring payments suit instalment plans popular among Irish consumers.
Marketing efforts highlight Revolut’s travel-friendly ethos: no foreign transaction fees on many personal cards (appealing to end customers), expense management for corporate travel, and seamless B2B payments. The fintech participates in industry discussions on digital innovation, aligning with post-pandemic shifts towards online and contactless bookings.
This joint award reflects Revolut’s rapid ascent in a category that underscores the evolving role of payments in travel retail. By prioritising speed, security, and cost-efficiency, Revolut empowers Irish agents to focus on crafting personalised holidays rather than navigating complex payment hurdles.
